Dave McCormick, U.S. Senate Candidate in Pennsylvania, stated that his opponent Senator Bob Casey’s choice for President, Vice President Kamala Harris, is a “failed border czar” responsible for the border crisis and illegal immigration crisis. McCormick gave his statement to Keystone on July 31.

“Even other Democrats agree that Bob Casey’s choice for the Presidency, Kamala Harris, is a failed border czar who presided over a full-blown illegal immigration crisis,” said McCormick. “But worse than that — Casey and Kamala’s radical positions to eliminate Immigration and Customs Enforcement, decriminalize border crossings, and prop up sanctuary cities would be a disaster for our commonwealth and country. Pennsylvania needs a strong leader who will fight every day to finish the wall, stop the flow of fentanyl, and protect our communities.”

Vice President Kamala Harris was tasked in 2021 by President Biden to uncover causes of mass migration to the U.S.-Mexico border, according to Fox News. Since this appointment, she has said the U.S. should consider dismantling U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and suggested the U.S. should “decriminalize” unauthorized border crossings.

As a U.S. Senator, Harris compared ICE to the Ku Klux Klan when questioning Ronald Vitiello, President Trump’s nominee to lead ICE, in a 2018 confirmation hearing, according to Fox News.

According to Axios, six House Democrats voted with Republicans to pass a resolution condemning the Biden administration, specifically Vice President Kamala Harris, for her handling of the southern border. The resolution passed with a 220-196 vote and criticizes the administration’s failure to secure the border. The Democratic representatives who voted in favor are from competitive districts, including Jared Golden, Henry Cuellar, and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, co-chairs of the Blue Dog Coalition.

A House Oversight Committee report states there have been 8 million migrant encounters nationwide and 6.7 million at the southern border under the Biden-Harris administration. Additionally, there have been 1.7 million gotaways—migrants not detected by Border Patrol.

David McCormick is a U.S. Army veteran running for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania, according to his campaign website.
