McCormick Commemorates 80th Anniversary of D-Day
PITTSBURGH, PA. — Dave McCormick, a combat veteran and Pennsylvania job creator who served in the highest levels of government, released the following statement commemorating the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
“Our nation and commonwealth are forever indebted to the servicemembers who bravely fought on D-Day, liberated Nazi-occupied France, and went on to defeat Hitler. Today, we pause to reflect on these heroes’ sacrifices as the embodiment of the Greatest Generation. Our commonwealth will never forget what they accomplished on that fateful day in June and how it changed the course of human history for the better. As Pennsylvanians and Americans, we must continue to invest in our veterans and do everything we can to preserve their legacies,” said Dave McCormick.
Nearly 1.25 million Pennsylvanians served in World War II and many lost their lives. Numerous Pennsylvanians participated in Operation Overlord — one of the most complex and daring operations of World War II — that helped liberate Europe.
